Roxy’s Pet Portrait

BY ERICA ERIKSDOTTER

Roxy’s pet portrait is an original painting commissioned by a client in Maryland who won Knock Out Abuse‘s silent auction, benefiting victims of domestic abuse. She loved the idea of the portrait so much she ended up commissioning Elsa’s portrait at the same time.

Roxy was rescued from a South Carolina high kill shelter at 8 weeks old. She’s the sweetest and calmest dog who takes care of everyone around her.

While the client gave me free creative license in terms of background, she did mention how much she loves blue – which also happen to fit in really well with their decor and match with the background color I was planning for Elsa’s. Since they would be hanging together it was important the blue shade would make Roxy’s features pop and not distract from Elsa’s portrait.

“Omg!!! They’re amazing!! I’m so so excited I could cry,” and a few months later: “I can’t tell you how much we’ve enjoyed having their paintings in our family room where they are prominently displayed. We get so many compliments from everyone that sees them.”
