“Periwink-wink” – Painting No 7 in the Spring Art Auction 2013 series

Spring is here and what better symbol than the Periwinkle, at least in the Virginia area. This is low to the ground and so tiny it’s hard to spot it. I did only because my little kitty, Rasmus, snuck out into my neighbors front yard and as I picked him up I saw this little beautiful and perfect purple flower with 5 petals. I didn’t know it was a periwinkle until I had to name it!
Periwink-Wink measures 10×10 inches and is painted on a 1.5 inches deep gallery wrapped canvas (25 x 25 x 4cm), and it features five lovely petals of this bluish purple spring flower against a reddish purple background. The background has some strokes of unbleached white which has beige tones in it. It creates an interesting and soothing feel to it I think, and it’s lighter on the top compared to the bottom of the painting. It continues to all sides and the painting is ready to hang as is.
Once the bidding is over and this painting has a winner, I will ship it via USPS Priority Mail or US Priority International Mail Globally. It will be packaged very carefully.
