Pet portrait of a french bulldog by artist Erica Eriksdotter

”Beautiful work. We can’t wait to give it to them!” – J.S. of Virginia

Loki’s pet portrait is a custom original acrylic painting of a black labrador retriever commissioned by the son and his wife to his parents as a surprise Christmas gift. Loki was a beloved family dog and lived a happy life for 12 years before passing away in 2018. I’ll update this when I hear how it went and what the parents thought.

If you’ve already checked out the blog post about the behind the scenes of how Loki came alive on canvas, you know we put the background color to a social media vote! Sometimes it’s so fun to see what everyone things will be the best fit.  Out of 6 different color choices, in the end we decided on this creamy yellow color which is so lovely.

One thing to keep in mind with pet portraits that are given as a gift is that the background needs to not only compliment the pet, but also be a good fit for the giver and the recipient (and his/her decor!) – not the easiest task but it seems too always work out.

Now we wait with excitement what my client’s parents (and in-laws) think of Loki’s portrait. Will they like it?

Loki’s portrait is painted on a 18 x 18 inches gallery wrap canvas that is 1.5 inch deep. All sides are painted with the background color.
