Last year I did 5 shows. This year I did 16. That’s a lot more when you consider the logisticts, all the traveling and weekends spent working. In total, we drove about 4,200 miles (6 759 kilometers) and spent many hours in the car.

Shows are a lot of work but a lot of fun as well. Though I’m already craving to do shows again, this year had a little bit too many. At one point I had 6 weekends back-to-back with traveling and working non-stop. I was exhausted to say the least.

Most of the time, I have a great time meeting new people and getting new customers. I love hearing why people are drawn to my art. This year, I had some shows with disappointing crowds though. It’s never fun to work really hard, investing a lot of money to be there and then no one shows up. Those weekends are hard. Or when you have a really annoying booth neighbors that draines you. You live and you learn. And when you know better, you do better.

By the way, do you know where you can end up driving 4,200 miles straight?

Yup, that’s right… Anchorage, Alaska. That’s a lot of driving!
