I’m so excited to finally share this painting with you! It was custom ordered as a Christmas gift to the client’s wife (how romantic!) so it has been under wrap until today!

The Large Fringed Tulip No. 2 is an acrylic painting done on a gallery wrapped canvas. It measures 36in x 48in (91.4cm x 122cm) and is 1.5 inches (3.8cm) deep.

I was working on this commissioned piece during the first half of December. I worked in a deep purple and made the top leaf pop with gold – colors that are prominent in the room the client is hanging it in. It’s a warm painting but it comes off much cooler than a previous fringed tulip.

You may remember an earlier Large Fringed Tulip I did that was sold at the Arts in the Park in Richmond, VA this past May. Can you tell the background color is different? That was also made to fit the client’s wall color better. Each painting is definitely an original art work and shouldn’t really be compared with each other, but sometimes it’s interesting to see how different hues can make a different statement.

Are you as bad as me when it comes to numbers? 36 inches by 48 inches wouldn’t mean anything to me unless I had been standing in front of the canvas for hours. Here’s a photo of me and the above painting that Casey took in the spring. I’m 5’5″ and it always surprises me to see how large the painting really is.

Happy Monday and stay warm!
