Yes it does. I prefer a medium texture on my 100% cotton duck canvases because I paint in thin layers and enjoy seeing the texture through the layers of paint once the painting is finished. Now, the first layer will still be a bit rough with this texture but after that it has the perfect texture for me.

I don’t recommend going rougher than a medium texture though, as it will bring less joy to your painting experience (and shorten the life of your brushes!). For smoother texture on your future portraits, past student and professional pet portrait artist, Cristina Col, recommend ultrasmooth Fredrix Blue Label (gallery profile).
